Physiotherapist home visits across Kothrud, Pune, from Karve Nagar and Paud Road to the colonies near Vanaz, for back and knee pain, stroke and rehab.
Kothrud is one of the largest residential suburbs in Pune, and it shows in the calls we get: a retired couple in a bungalow off Paud Road, a software engineer working from the second bedroom, a mother recovering from a hip operation in a flat above her daughter's. Proper Care Physiotherapy sends a physiotherapist to the patient's own home in Kothrud, so nobody has to sit through Karve Road traffic to reach a clinic.
This page explains how home physiotherapy in Kothrud works, which parts of the suburb we visit, and what a first visit looks like. Each locality below has its own page, and the five conditions we treat most often here have separate pages as well.
Kothrud has long been a family neighbourhood, with schools, colleges, hospitals and markets close to home. Its main localities include Karve Nagar, Mayur Colony, Dahanukar Colony, Ideal Colony and Bhusari Colony, and the list on Wikipedia runs to dozens more. Because so many households here include grandparents, parents and students, the same address can need three different kinds of care: a stiff knee, a stubborn back, and a recovery after surgery.
Home visits suit that mix. The physiotherapist sees the stairs, the bed height, the bathroom threshold and the chair the patient actually uses, and plans exercises around them instead of around a clinic gym. Family members who are present learn what to do between visits, which matters when the patient lives with a working son or daughter who cannot attend every session.
Two roads shape the suburb. Karve Road runs from Deccan through Erandwane and Kothrud to Karve Nagar and Warje, and Paud Road starts at Paud Phata and heads west towards Bavdhan and beyond. Homes can sit on either road or in the colonies between them. When you book, give the nearest chowk or society name and a note on where a two-wheeler can be parked; that saves the physiotherapist a lap of the lane.
Visits are arranged as a time window, not an exact minute, because the Karve Road and Paud Road junctions slow down at peak hours. News reports from April 2026 say the Pune Municipal Corporation plans more flyovers on Karve Road ahead of a metro spur towards Warje, so work on that corridor may affect timings for some months. If you live close to the Aqua Line metro stations at Vanaz, Anand Nagar or Paud Phata, mention it; they are useful landmarks when you describe your address.
We cover the whole suburb and have written separately about the pockets where the daily routine differs most.
Four needs come up more than any others, and each has its own page with the local detail.
Older residents are a large part of the picture too. Our page on elderly physiotherapy in Kothrud covers balance, falls and keeping independence at home. Neck stiffness, frozen shoulder and sciatica are also common; the sciatica page explains how leg pain from the back is assessed.
Wikipedia notes that the largest economic activity in Kothrud in recent years has been rebuilding older buildings into taller ones. For a patient, that has practical effects. A flat in a building under redevelopment may have a temporary staircase or a lift that is out of service, and dust and drilling can make rest harder. Tell us if this applies, so the physiotherapist can plan stair practice and rest breaks around it.
Many homes are in cooperative societies with a gate register or watchman. Please inform the gate in advance, and share the flat number and floor, so the visit is not delayed at the entrance.
Walking is the most useful exercise for many patients, and Kothrud offers some options. Listings for Kothrud Hill, near Sahajanand Society, describe walking and jogging paths and a lotus pond. Vetal Tekdi can be reached from Paud Road, but its slopes are steeper than most patients need early in recovery. The physiotherapist will usually start on level ground, perhaps the society compound, the corridor of the building or the lane outside, and add gradient only when the patient is ready. If a hill walk is the goal, we plan towards it in stages rather than starting there.
Kothrud sits close to several IT offices, and Wikipedia lists Cognizant, Persistent Systems and Tech Mahindra among the employers nearby. People who work there, or commute to Hinjewadi on the direct morning and evening buses, spend long stretches seated. Back and neck pain often follows, and by evening few have the energy to travel to a clinic. A visit at the end of the working day, or early in the morning, is a common request.
The suburb also has a large student population around its engineering and management colleges, many living in shared flats with improvised desks and beds. Pain from an unsupported study posture is a regular reason for a call, and we can adjust the setup in the flat itself.
The third group is the parent who lives alone or with a spouse while the children work across the city or abroad. A son or daughter often books the first visit by phone and asks for a plain explanation afterwards. We are glad to speak to the family and to leave simple written exercises so that a neighbour or helper can supervise.
The first visit is a full assessment. The physiotherapist asks about the problem, your medical history, medicines and any scans or discharge papers, then examines movement, strength and balance, and checks the home for hazards. Treatment usually begins in the same visit and you leave with a short exercise plan. Later visits review progress and adjust the plan. We do not promise a fixed number of sessions because that depends on the problem and on how the body responds. You can see the current session charges on the pricing page.
Some symptoms need medical assessment before any exercise. These include sudden weakness of the face, arm or leg, difficulty speaking, new loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness between the legs, chest pain, a hot swollen calf, fever with a painful joint, and pain after a fall with a deformed limb. Call emergency services or go to the nearest emergency department in those cases. Physiotherapy can follow once a doctor is satisfied that it is safe.
Kothrud shares its boundaries with several other parts of western Pune. Karve Road leads on to Warje in one direction and back to Deccan Gymkhana in the other. Paud Road continues to Bavdhan, and across Vetal Tekdi lies Pashan. If you live near these boundaries, check those pages as well.
Tell us the area, the problem and a few convenient time slots through the booking form. A coordinator confirms the visit window and the first assessment is scheduled. If you are not sure whether home physiotherapy suits your situation, describe it in a line or two when you book and we will advise.
