Physiotherapists visit homes in Wakad, Pune, including Dange Chowk, Kalewadi Phata, Bhumkar Chowk, Punawale and Tathawade, for pain and rehab.
If you live in Wakad, you will know the pattern: a flat in a tower society, a job in the Hinjewadi parks or a hybrid week split between the dining table and the highway, and a parent upstairs or in the next room whose knees, back or balance are slowly getting worse. Proper Care Physiotherapy sends a physiotherapist to the home, so the treatment is planned around your flat, your lift, your bathroom and your day, not the other way round.
We should be straightforward about distance. Our base is on Katraj–Kondhwa Road in South Pune, and Wakad is one of the farther zones we serve. That is why home physiotherapy in Wakad is booked in advance, with an agreed time window, and not arranged at a few hours' notice. Once the first visit is fixed, follow-up visits can be planned on a regular rhythm.
Wakad grew around the Hinjewadi IT corridor. Wikipedia notes that many of its residents work for the large IT employers, and much of the newer housing is built as apartment societies. In practice, the people who call us tend to fall into a few groups.
The physiotherapist comes out from South Pune and joins the traffic that every Wakad commuter knows. The Mumbai–Bengaluru highway near Wakad Chowk carries the Hinjewadi flow, and service-road and underpass work around Punawale, Tathawade and Bhumkar Chowk has been going on for some time, according to reports from 2026. Pune Metro Line 3 is planned to run past Wakad Chowk, but its opening has slipped more than once, so we do not plan visits around it.
For you, this means three practical things. Book a few days ahead when you can. Give the nearest chowk or society gate and the tower or wing, because the lanes behind the highway are easy to miss. And expect a time window, not a precise minute. If a procession or a local festival closes roads, as it did around the Mhatoba yatra in April 2026, we will tell you before the visit if the window has to move.
A tower flat and a gaothan house ask different things of a physiotherapist. In a flat, the main hazards are polished floors, a wet bathroom with a raised threshold, low sofas that are hard to rise from and a lift that is used so much that the person never practises stairs. In an older house, steps at the entrance, a raised kitchen platform and a bathroom at the back are more likely.
We look at your real layout at the first visit. We watch you get out of bed, sit on the commode or bathroom stool, enter the lift and cross the doorstep. Then we adjust the exercises to what the home allows. Where the person has a lift, we still practise a few stairs if the doctor agrees and the person will meet stairs at a relative's house or a clinic.
These are the problems we are asked about most often, with a page for each that explains the local angle.
Beyond these, we also see neck pain, shoulder stiffness and sciatica from long sitting. Our neck pain physiotherapy and sciatica treatment pages explain how those are handled.
Wakad runs into several distinct neighbourhoods, and each has its own character. These pages describe the practical side of a home visit in each.
Neighbouring areas have their own pages too: Hinjewadi to the west, Pimple Saudagar to the north-east, Baner across the Mula river to the south and Pimpri further into Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Recovery needs walking, and Wakad's roads are not always kind to walkers. Heavy vehicles use the highway and the service roads, and footpaths are patchy in places. For most patients we use the corridor of the building, the society compound or the podium level as the walking track, because it is flat, shaded and has a rail or a bench nearby. Only when a patient is steady do we talk about going further. Public parks in neighbouring Thergaon, such as the park with the Shivaji statue and the Laxmibai Barne Udyan with its jogging track, are options for those who can travel there, but your physiotherapist will decide when you are ready.
The first visit is mostly about listening and testing. The physiotherapist asks about your pain or weakness, what you can and cannot do, any medicines or surgery, and what the doctor has advised. Then comes a physical assessment: movement, strength, balance, and how you manage the real tasks of your day. You leave with a short plan, a few exercises that you can do in the flat, and a clear idea of what we will review next time. If you have scans, prescriptions or a discharge summary, keep them handy.
If you are comparing options, our pricing page sets out what a session costs and what is included.
Most callers want to know three things: how soon someone can come, what it costs and whether they need to be at home. On timing, Wakad visits are planned a few days ahead because of the distance, and the earlier you book, the more choice you have of the time window. On cost, the pricing page sets out what a session involves. On presence, an adult should be at home to let the physiotherapist in, and for a patient who cannot give a clear history, a family member who knows the story should be there for at least the first visit.
Many of our Wakad bookings come from someone who lives elsewhere. A daughter in another city arranges care for a father in Wakad, or a son at the office books a visit for his mother upstairs. That works well, as long as we have a phone number for someone who can answer questions on the day. We also send the plan to the person booking, so they can follow progress without being in the room.
Some symptoms need a doctor first. Go to a hospital emergency department, or call an ambulance, for sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body, a drooping face, slurred speech, chest pain or breathlessness, a fall with a suspected fracture, loss of bladder or bowel control, or severe pain after an injury. These are not problems to treat at home. Once a doctor has cleared the cause, physiotherapy can begin or resume.
Choose the nearest pocket or neighbour from the list above, and give the chowk, the society name and the wing when you book an appointment. We will confirm the date and time window. If the patient is still in hospital, you can book before discharge so that the first visit falls in the first days at home.
