Home Physiotherapy in Pashan, Pune

Physiotherapist home visits across Pashan, Pune, from Sus Road and Sutarwadi to Someshwarwadi and Panchvati, for pain, stroke and recovery after surgery.

Pashan is one of the few parts of Pune where you can look up from a street of houses and see a hill, then walk a few hundred metres and find a lake. It is also hemmed in by research and defence campuses, and the roads that thread through it are an odd mix of broad new carriageway and lanes that narrow without warning. If you are looking for a physiotherapist in Pashan, Proper Care Physiotherapy sends one to your home, so that the slope, the steps and the traffic are not part of the treatment.

This page explains how home physiotherapy in Pashan works, what we commonly treat, how we plan the long journey from the south of the city, and how the sub-areas of Sus Road, Sutarwadi, Someshwarwadi and Panchvati fit in.

Hills, a lake and a ring of campuses

Pashan lies off the Mumbai–Bangalore highway bypass, with Baner to the north, Sus to the west, Bavdhan to the south and the university side to the east. Pashan Lake was created by bunding the Ramnadi and has a nature trail along its western shore. Several research and defence institutions, among them DRDO, ARDE, the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), IISER and the National Institute of Virology, are listed among Pashan's institutions. Campuses of that kind tend to leave large stretches of land undeveloped, which helps give the area a more open, low-density feel than the older parts of the city.

Housing varies. Property guides describe independent houses and bungalows alongside apartment complexes, and the quieter lanes near the lake and the hills have a suburban feel. For physiotherapy this is relevant in two ways. Many residents are older people living in houses of their own, often with steps at the gate and a staircase inside. And many working adults live in apartments with lifts, but commute across the city.

Planning the journey to Pashan

Our physiotherapists start from the clinic base on Katraj–Kondhwa Road, so reaching Pashan is a long cross-city journey. The route depends on the day, but the pinch points are well known. Chandni Chowk, where the highway meets the roads to Bavdhan, Pashan and Kothrud, was rebuilt with a multi-level flyover in 2023, yet queues still form when there is an accident or roadwork.

Work on local roads continues. The Bavdhan–Pashan road is designated a 36-metre road from Chandni Chowk to the Defence boundary, and Pune's civic body reviewed widening in November 2025. A grade separator linking Pashan–Sus Road to the bypass service road was reported in October 2025, aimed at vehicles that go the wrong way to avoid a long detour. In July 2026 residents said the Pashan–Sutarwadi main road near Shiv Mandir had been in poor condition for six months. Such stretches slow visits down.

For these reasons we book Pashan visits as a time window, and we ask you to give a landmark and a phone number. When the physiotherapist is delayed we say so.

Which part of Pashan is your address?

Post office records split the area. The Armament, Bavdhan and Sus offices share 411021, while the N.C.L. Pune and Baner Road offices share 411008. The pin code on your own letters is the reliable guide, and we have not tried to draw the line between the two on a map. Tell us that as well as the lane name, since two houses a few hundred metres apart can belong to different sub-areas and different approach roads.

Steps, slopes and low-rise houses

Pashan's slopes are part of daily life. A lane may climb gently for a hundred metres before reaching a gate, and a bungalow may sit above the road with a flight of outdoor steps. For a person with a painful knee, a recent operation or poor balance, these slopes decide whether they can leave the house.

The physiotherapist therefore looks at the route outside as well as the room inside. How high is the first step? Is there a rail? Is the surface smooth in the rain? Is there a place to rest halfway? The answers shape the plan, and for someone who was walking by the lake before an illness, they also shape a realistic goal for getting back to it.

The rains matter too. Outdoor steps and sloping paths turn slick in the monsoon, and a gate that was easy in March can become a hazard in July. We suggest rails, anti-slip strips on outdoor steps and a rule that the first trip outside after a long illness is made on a dry day with someone beside you.

What people in Pashan commonly ask for

General guidance is in our guides to back pain, knee pain and elderly physiotherapy.

Walking by the lake and on the hill trail

Walking is the most common goal we hear in Pashan. Birdwatchers describe Pashan Lake as having a jogging track at the main gate and a separate birding approach through Sutarwadi road, with more than fifty bird species recorded. Panchavati Hill Trail, at the NCL co-operative housing society, has wide trails used by walkers and cyclists. Both attract people of all ages.

After an illness or operation, the question is when to return and how far to go. The physiotherapist builds up from a few minutes on a flat lane near home, watches for pain, breathlessness and fatigue, and agrees on a distance. A companion on the first few visits is wise, and so is a bench to stop at. Uneven ground, steps and slopes around the lake and the hill need more balance than a pavement does, so we leave them until the person is steady.

Who books, and how the family stays informed

In Pashan the person booking is often not the person in pain. A daughter in Baner, a son in another city, or a neighbour may call on behalf of an older resident. We are glad to speak to the booker before and after each visit, within what the patient has agreed to, and to send a plain summary of what was found and what to do next. It avoids the common situation where a parent says everything is fine while a relative sees that it is not.

A first home visit in Pashan

The physiotherapist asks about the problem, your health and medicines, and what you want to get back to. They examine movement, strength, balance and, where needed, sensation and walking. Treatment starts if it is safe, combining hands-on work, exercises and advice, and you are left with a short plan. If the assessment shows warning signs, the physiotherapist asks you to see a doctor first.

Looking after a parent at home in Pashan

Many Pashan households are older couples whose children live elsewhere in Pune or abroad. An adult child may book the visit by phone and join by video. Our physiotherapists explain the plan to both generations, suggest changes to the home such as rails, lighting and non-slip mats, and leave a written list of exercises. Where one spouse cares for the other, we show them how to help without hurting their own back.

The sub-areas we cover

  • Sus Road, the valley road west of Pashan with new apartment complexes.
  • Sutarwadi, the residential area reaching towards Pashan Lake.
  • Someshwarwadi, the old village around the Someshwar Temple on the Ramnadi.
  • Panchvati, the housing area at the foot of the hill trail.

Next door are Baner, Bavdhan, Aundh and Kothrud, which have their own pages.

When to see a doctor first

Go to a hospital emergency department for sudden weakness on one side, slurred speech, chest pain, severe breathlessness, a fall with severe pain or a deformed limb, loss of bladder or bowel control, or a hot swollen calf after surgery. If you are unsure, speak to your doctor before starting physiotherapy.

Common Questions

Home physiotherapy in Pashan: questions families ask

Pashan is a long way from your base. Do physiotherapists still come here?
Yes, Pashan and its sub-areas are covered. The journey is long, so visits are booked as a time window and we tell you if the physiotherapist is delayed. It helps to book a few days ahead and, if possible, choose a mid-morning or early-afternoon slot.
I live in a bungalow with steps at the gate and a staircase inside. Is that a problem?
No. The physiotherapist looks at the steps, the rails and the lighting as part of the assessment, and builds your exercises and your plan for going out around them.
Can I walk by Pashan Lake while I recover?
Only when your physiotherapist agrees. The path is better for a person who is steady on their feet. For someone just starting, a lane near home or a short flat stretch is a safer first step.
Which pin code should I give?
Different parts of Pashan fall under 411021 and 411008. Give the pin code that appears on your own postal address, plus the lane name and a landmark.
Do you cover Sus Road and Panchvati too?
Yes. Sus Road, Sutarwadi, Someshwarwadi and Panchvati each have their own page with local notes, and all are covered under the Pashan area.
