Home Physiotherapy in Ideal Colony, Pune

Home physiotherapy in Ideal Colony, Kothrud, Pune, near Paud Phata metro station, for older residents, commuters and families, covering pain and rehab.

For nearly four years, a metro station in Kothrud bore the name of the colony beside it. Ideal Colony station opened in March 2022 as part of the first stretch of the Aqua Line, and in December 2025 it was renamed Paud Phata. Many residents still say Ideal Colony, which is why this page uses both names.

Proper Care Physiotherapy visits homes in Ideal Colony, part of Kothrud. If you have been looking for physiotherapy near the Paud Phata metro station, the information below describes what to expect in this tree-lined, older part of the suburb.

Wide streets, older blocks

Property portals describe Ideal Colony as an upscale neighbourhood with tree-lined streets, a mix of independent houses and older apartments. Older apartments are the key phrase. Many were built before lifts became standard, so a third-floor home can mean a long climb every time someone goes out. A physiotherapist visiting here asks about the stairs at the first meeting, counts the flights and inspects the handrail. Patients who struggle with stairs are not told to avoid them forever; they are taught how to manage them safely and are given strength exercises that make them easier.

Because the lanes are fairly wide and tree-lined, they can also serve as short walking routes for recovering patients, provided the surface is even. We look at the lane in front of the house during the first visit and suggest a route that avoids potholes and parked vehicles.

The station, the school and the shopping mall

For finding a home, the neighbourhood has several landmarks. The elevated station is the obvious one. Property listings also place Geetai Shopping Mall about 200 metres from the heart of the colony, and Maeers Vishwashanti Gurukul School and Bal Shikshan Mandir English Medium School close by. The Ex-Serviceman Colony post office is a short distance away on the 411038 pin code. Give us whichever of these is nearest, along with your building's name and floor.

Paud Phata junction is also the point where the flyover carries Paud Road traffic over Karve Road. Congestion there builds at commuting hours, so a visit late in the morning is usually easier to schedule than one at 9 a.m. or 6 p.m.

Using the metro for follow-up appointments

An elevated metro line next door is useful for patients who must reach a hospital for follow-up. It is also tiring for someone on a walker or with a painful knee, since stations involve stairs, escalators or lifts and some walking. If you plan to use it, ask the physiotherapist to assess whether you can manage the journey. For patients recovering from surgery, we usually advise a car or taxi for the first review and the metro later when strength allows. Our page on post-surgery rehabilitation in Kothrud sets out how recovery is staged.

Who is likely to need us

  • Long-time residents with arthritis or balance problems, living in older apartments with stairs.
  • Office workers who now use the metro and walk to the station twice a day, and have developed heel, knee or back pain from the extra standing.
  • Families with a parent recovering from a stroke, who want exercise to continue in a familiar home.
  • Parents of students in the surrounding schools and colleges, who need quick help for sprains or sports injuries.

The balance disorder physiotherapy page covers dizziness and unsteadiness, which are common reasons older residents call. For arthritis in a knee, see knee pain physiotherapy in Kothrud.

Evening walks and the station approach

Many people who start using the metro also begin walking to and from the station, which is a healthy change that can still strain a heel, a knee or a lower back if it happens suddenly. We advise building up the distance over a couple of weeks, wearing shoes with a cushioned sole and stopping to rest when a joint complains. Pain that persists after a few days of this is worth a proper assessment, and a home visit is a simple way to get one.

A first visit in Ideal Colony

The physiotherapist begins with the history, then examines strength, joint movement and balance, and tests a task that matters to you: climbing your stairs, getting out of a chair, walking to the door. Hands-on treatment, exercises and advice follow, and you receive a plan for the days between visits. If something needs a doctor's opinion first, you will be told plainly.

Nearby pockets

The colonies on either side have their own pages: Mayur Colony and Bhusari Colony. The long road beyond the junction is covered on the Paud Road page.

Urgent signs

Sudden weakness, facial drooping, speech trouble, chest pain, fainting or a fall with a head injury need an ambulance or an emergency department straight away, ahead of any physiotherapy.

When you are ready, use the appointment form to request a visit and mention the metro station or school nearest to you.

Common Questions

Home physiotherapy in Ideal Colony: questions families ask

Is Ideal Colony the same as Paud Phata?
The metro station was called Ideal Colony until December 2025 and is now Paud Phata. The colony itself keeps its name. Either will help us find you, but a school or building name is better still.
I live on the third floor of an older building with no lift. Is that a problem?
No. The physiotherapist comes up to you, assesses how you climb and descend, and teaches a safer pattern. Strength exercises are chosen to make the stairs easier over time.
Can I use the metro for hospital visits while recovering from surgery?
Often later in recovery, but it depends on your strength and the surgeon's advice. The physiotherapist can assess whether you can manage the walk, stairs and standing involved.
Which time of day suits a visit here?
Late morning or early afternoon is usually easier than commuting hours at Paud Phata. Tell us what suits you and we will offer a window, subject to availability.
