Home Physiotherapy in Nigdi, Pune

Physiotherapist home visits in Nigdi, Pune, from Pradhikaran and Yamunanagar to Akurdi and Ravet, booked in advance for pain and rehabilitation.

If you are searching for a physiotherapist in Nigdi who will come to the house, Proper Care Physiotherapy sends one. Nigdi is the north-western end of the Pune urban area, where the old Mumbai highway leaves the city, and a home visit here means the physiotherapist has travelled a long way to reach you. For the patient it means treatment in their own flat or house, with the exercises tested on their own stairs and floors.

This page explains how home physiotherapy in Nigdi works, what households here commonly ask for, and what is different about the four neighbourhoods we cover: Nigdi Pradhikaran, Yamunanagar, Akurdi and Ravet. It also says plainly that Nigdi is one of our farthest zones, so visits are planned ahead.

The gateway at the end of the highway

Wikipedia describes Bhakti Shakti, Nigdi as the gateway to Pune, and anyone who has taken a bus from the terminal there will know why. The Nigdi bus terminal runs PMPML services across the city, and the highway passes through. Around that junction sit the offices that give Nigdi its working character: the CBI's Pune headquarters at Kendriya Sadan, the GST Bhavan and the headquarters of the PMRDA. Behind them are the planned sectors of Pradhikaran, laid out by the new-town development authority, with schools, colleges and gardens.

The result is a neighbourhood of people with fairly regular days: office hours, college timetables, evening walks. It also has a visible number of retired residents who settled here when the sectors were new.

A long way from South Pune

Our physiotherapists start from the clinic base on Katraj–Kondhwa Road, cross the city and follow the highway corridor north-west. Nigdi is at the far end of that line. Metro viaduct work along the corridor adds to the usual traffic: the extension from PCMC Bhavan to Nigdi will have stations at Chinchwad, Akurdi, Nigdi and Bhakti Shakti, and a report dated 30 August 2026 put the viaduct at about three-quarters complete, with a 2027 target for completion.

So please book ahead. We agree a time window rather than an exact minute, and we tell you if the physiotherapist is held up. We cannot honestly offer visits at a few hours' notice here. If you know a discharge date or a surgery date, tell us as soon as you do. When you book, give the sector or society name, the nearest landmark, the floor and whether there is a lift.

Sectors, societies and what each one means for treatment

  • Planned sectors. In Pradhikaran, addresses are written by sector and plot. Many buildings are older walk-ups, so stairs often decide the first outing after surgery or a stroke.
  • Newer towers. Further out towards Ravet, newer buildings have lifts. Check whether yours takes a wheelchair.
  • Houses and row homes. A doorstep or a short flight at the entrance can matter more than any staircase indoors.

The first assessment is always done in the patient's own home, because the same exercise needs a different set-up in each of these.

What Nigdi households usually ask for

Four neighbourhoods around Nigdi

  • Nigdi Pradhikaran is the planned township of numbered sectors, with offices, hospitals and gardens.
  • Akurdi centres on its railway station and the colleges around it.
  • Ravet lies where the expressway meets the bypass, beside the Pavana, with many young renters and professionals.
  • Yamunanagar is a residential colony of Nigdi with its own post office, where we are candid about how little local detail we can verify.

Rain, river and the low ground

Ravet and parts of Akurdi lie close to the Pavana, which forms Ravet's southern border and is crossed there by the Sant Tukaram Bridge. In July 2026 swollen rivers flooded low-lying areas of Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Akurdi and Ravet were among those named in a report dated 6 July. If your street is under a flood or evacuation notice, safety comes first and we will rearrange the visit. In ordinary monsoon weeks, wet tiles and damp footwear are the hazard to watch for in a patient who is unsteady, and it is worth keeping a dry mat at the door.

Hills, lakes and gardens as practice ground

Nigdi has more open space than most of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Wikipedia lists Durga Tekdi, Ganesh Talav, Sunset Point and Dhingra Maidan among its places,. For a person recovering from an injury or an operation these are goals, not starting points. We begin indoors and on the floor, move to the corridor, then to a level lane, and only then to a garden loop with a bench nearby. A hill like Durga Tekdi needs strong thighs and steady knees, and we will say when it is sensible to attempt it again.

Getting to the hospital for follow-up

Nigdi has a number of private and municipal hospitals within the township, including multispecialty hospitals in Sector 27, and many patients are also treated at larger hospitals in Pimpri and Chinchwad. Follow-up visits are the hardest outings in the early weeks. The physiotherapist can practise the steps involved with the patient beforehand, such as getting into an auto-rickshaw or car, climbing the entrance steps and waiting in a chair, so that the first trip does not undo the progress made at home.

Caring for a parent from a distance

Because a long-time Nigdi household often includes retired parents and working adult children, we see a lot of arrangements made by phone. The person who books may be at an office across the city or in another city altogether. We are used to that. You can ask for a written summary of the plan to be shared with the relative at home, and we can speak to the carer who is present. If the patient lives alone, tell us who can open the door and who will check on them afterwards.

What the first visit includes

The physiotherapist asks about the problem, history, medicines and any recent hospital stay, screens for symptoms that need a doctor first, and examines movement, strength and balance. Then comes the practical part: the patient shows how they get out of bed, sit down, climb a few steps or reach the bathroom. Treatment starts in the same visit, and you receive a short plan. Fees and what a first assessment costs are on the pricing page.

When a doctor must see you first

Go to an emergency department for sudden weakness of the face, arm or leg, difficulty speaking, chest pain, severe breathlessness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or a serious injury. A swollen, hot calf, especially after surgery, also needs medical review before physiotherapy continues.

Next door

If your home is nearer another part of Pimpri-Chinchwad, see Chinchwad, Pimpri, Bhosari or Wakad.

Common Questions

Home physiotherapy in Nigdi: questions families ask

Nigdi is at the far end of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Do you really come this far from South Pune?
Yes, but visits here are booked in advance, not at a few hours' notice. When you book we agree a time window and the physiotherapist plans the day around it. If a discharge or a surgery date is known, tell us early.
Which neighbourhoods around Nigdi do you cover?
We visit homes in Nigdi Pradhikaran, Yamunanagar, Akurdi and Ravet, each with its own page, and in the streets between them. If your address is near the boundary, send the nearest landmark and we will confirm.
I walk on Durga Tekdi every morning but my knee has started to hurt. Should I stop?
Not necessarily, but steep ground is hard on a painful knee. Switch to level walking for now, and let a physiotherapist assess the knee. We will tell you when it is sensible to return to the slope and how to go up and down it.
My father worked in a government office near Nigdi and is now retired and unsteady on his feet. What can we do?
Book a home assessment of his strength, balance and walking. The physiotherapist will look at the stairs, the bathroom and his footwear, and give him a short routine. If there are other warning signs, such as dizziness or repeated falls, we will advise seeing a doctor too.
Will metro construction affect my visit?
It can slow traffic around Bhakti Shakti Chowk and along the corridor towards Akurdi. That is one reason we give a time window and not an exact time, and let you know if the physiotherapist is delayed.
