Physiotherapist home visits in Nigdi Pradhikaran, Pune, across the numbered sectors near Bhel Chowk, booked in advance for rehab and pain.
Nigdi Pradhikaran is a township that was planned on paper before it was built, and it still shows: numbered sectors, wide internal roads, schools and clinics placed at regular intervals. A physiotherapist in Nigdi Pradhikaran who comes to the house is mainly meeting two groups, the retired residents who have lived in the same sector flat since it was new, and the working adults who commute from it. This page describes how home physiotherapy in Nigdi Pradhikaran works for both.
It belongs to our wider Nigdi home physiotherapy page, which covers the whole zone.
Addresses in the township are given by sector and plot, with names such as Sector 25, 26 or 27. India Post lists the P.C.N.T. post office, short for the new town development authority, on the 411044 pin code. Some known reference points help to place a sector: Akurdi railway station is in Sector 26 on B.D. Tupe Road, the PCMC A Zone office stands on Spine Road at Bhel Chowk, and Sector 27 has the Sterling Multispecialty Hospital and a second hospital, Dhanwantari. Sector 25 has a clinic near Bhel Chowk.
These are useful for you and for us, but they are not enough on their own. When you book, give the sector, the building name, the floor, one of the landmarks above and a number for someone who can guide the physiotherapist to the gate. Because the township is laid out in a grid, buildings can look alike from the road.
We start from our clinic base on Katraj–Kondhwa Road, a long way south. The route crosses Pune and runs along the highway corridor, where the metro viaduct to Nigdi is under construction. A report dated 30 August 2026 said around three-quarters was complete, with stations planned at Chinchwad, Akurdi, Nigdi and Bhakti Shakti. We therefore book Pradhikaran visits in advance and agree a time window, and we would rather say that than promise an hour we cannot keep.
Many buildings in the older sectors are low-rise walk-ups. For a healthy adult that is simply exercise; for a person with a weak knee, a recent fracture or a stroke, the staircase can decide whether they leave the flat at all. At the first visit the physiotherapist looks at the stairs as a test: how many flights, how wide, whether there is a rail on both sides and where a helper can stand.
The plan that follows might be exercise to strengthen the thighs, a way of going up and down that spares the weaker leg, a stool on the landing for rests, and a rule that the patient does not use the stairs alone until we say so. Our pages on knee pain physiotherapy in Nigdi and elderly physiotherapy in Nigdi explain the approach in more detail.
People who bought here as young employees are now in their seventies and eighties. Their children may live in another part of Pune or in another country. What we see most is a decline that nobody noticed until a fall: slower walking, shorter outings, a fear of the bathroom floor. A home assessment of strength and balance catches this early, and a short daily routine can slow or reverse it.
We also help the family decide what to arrange: a rail in the bathroom, a better light on the route to the toilet, a chair on the landing. These are inexpensive changes that make a large difference.
The sectors sit beside offices and institutions, among them the PCMC zone office, the new town development authority and the colleges nearby. Adults who work in these settings are often at a desk for most of the day. Neck and lower back pain are common, and a home visit can look at the chair and table you actually use in the evening and on weekends. For back problems, see back pain physiotherapy.
Nigdi is known for places to walk, including Durga Tekdi and Ganesh Talav, and the sectors have internal roads that are quieter at dawn. For someone recovering, the route back to them goes through the house, then the corridor, then the lane outside, then a garden loop with a helper. The slopes of Durga Tekdi are the last step, since the downhill is hard on a knee that is still recovering. We will tell you when a given walk is reasonable.
Go to an emergency department for chest pain, severe breathlessness, sudden weakness of the face or a limb, trouble speaking, loss of bladder or bowel control, or a fall with a head injury. A hot, swollen calf after surgery, or a wound that is red and leaking, should be seen by a doctor promptly. We will say clearly when something we find means you should go back to your doctor first.
If your address is nearer another part of the zone, see Akurdi or Yamunanagar. After an operation, read about post-surgery rehabilitation in Nigdi. When you are ready, book a home visit.
