Home Physiotherapy in Dapodi, Pune

Home physiotherapy in Dapodi, Pune, between the Pavana and Mula rivers, for pain, recovery after surgery and older parents, booked in advance.

Dapodi is a place of crossings. The Pavana comes in from the west and the Mula runs along the south, the Old Mumbai–Pune Highway passes through on the national highway number 48, and a railway station that opened in 1858 still stands here. Metro trains of the Purple Line reached Dapodi in August 2023. It is the part of Pimpri-Chinchwad that faces Pune, with Bopodi and Khadki on the other side. If you are looking for a physiotherapist in Dapodi, it helps to think of the area as a hinge between two cities.

Our physiotherapists do come to Dapodi homes, though it is still a long trip from our base on Katraj–Kondhwa Road in South Pune, so visits are booked in advance with an agreed time window. The Pimpri page describes the wider group of areas.

Two rivers and a lot of bridges

Dapodi is bounded by the Pavana on its west and the Mula on its south. The Harris Bridge over the Mula, a British-era structure on the Pune–Mumbai highway, has been joined by newer bridges, and a 2019 report counted four bridges over the river at Dapodi, two in each direction. Even so, the crossings fill up at peak hours. For a visit, the river is the bottleneck: the physiotherapist has to cross it from the Pune side, and traffic there is unpredictable.

That is why we agree a time window, and why we sometimes suggest a slot outside the morning and evening rush. Tell us which side of the highway you are on and the nearest lane or building. If you live on the river side, mention it, because the approach can differ.

Families that live between two hospital systems

Dapodi sits at the point where the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad hospital networks overlap. A family here may go to a hospital in Khadki or central Pune for an operation and to a Pimpri-Chinchwad hospital for follow-up. That makes the question of where physiotherapy should start more open than it is elsewhere. Home physiotherapy gets around it. The physiotherapist works from the discharge summary, whichever hospital issued it, and the first visit takes place in the home to which the patient returns.

  • Keep the discharge summary, scan reports and the surgeon's written instructions together.
  • Note the follow-up date and the name of the doctor to contact if there is a problem.
  • Book the first visit once the discharge date is known.

Walking on level ground, and where not to

The streets near the railway station and the highway are busy and noisy. For someone recovering their walking, the first practice is indoors: along a corridor, a landing or a clear room. After that, a quieter lane at a quiet time of day may do, with a companion. We do not recommend busy road edges or the approaches to the bridges for patients who are unsteady, and the physiotherapist will say when a longer outing is sensible. If your parent walks with a stick, the physiotherapist checks its height and tip.

Who calls from Dapodi

What to have ready

Clear a firm seat and a stretch of floor, keep reports and the list of medicines together, and note any recent falls. If the patient uses a walking aid, keep it close. Tell us who will be home, and whether the person booking will be there or will want the plan sent on afterwards.

Neighbouring pages

To the north is Kasarwadi, with the Nashik Phata junction. To the west is Pimple Gurav. Across the Mula towards Pune is Khadki.

First visit and urgent signs

The physiotherapist takes a history, checks the discharge papers if there are any, and examines movement, strength and balance. They leave a short plan. Chest pain, breathlessness, a swollen calf after surgery, sudden weakness on one side or slurred speech need urgent medical care, not exercise.

Common Questions

Home physiotherapy in Dapodi: questions families ask

Dapodi is on the Pune side of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Is it covered?
Yes. Dapodi is part of the Pimpri group of areas we visit. It is still a long trip from our South Pune base, so visits are booked in advance and given a time window.
My father had surgery in a Pune hospital but we live in Dapodi. Can physiotherapy start at home?
Yes. Where the hospital is does not matter. Tell us the operation, the date and the surgeon's instructions, and book as soon as you know the discharge date.
The Mula bridges are always crowded. Will the physiotherapist be late?
Delays are possible, which is why we agree a window and not an exact time. If the physiotherapist is held up, we will let you know.
Which pin code is Dapodi?
Dapodi and Dapodi Bazar post offices both use 411012. Check the code on your own address when you book.
