Home Physiotherapy in Koregaon Park, Pune

Physiotherapist home visits in Koregaon Park, Pune, across the lanes, North Main Road and Bund Garden Road, for pain, stroke and post-surgery care.

Anyone searching for a physiotherapist in Koregaon Park will find plenty of wellness studios, but a person with a sore knee or a recovering hip may not want to sit in a cab at all. Proper Care Physiotherapy sends a physiotherapist to the house or flat instead. The first visit is spent on the person and the home together: where the pain bites, how the stairs and bathroom are laid out, and who is around to help.

This page explains how home physiotherapy in Koregaon Park works, what the routes into the neighbourhood mean for timing, what we are most often asked to treat here, and where to book. If you live on one of the numbered lanes, along North Main Road, off Bund Garden Road or near Dhole Patil Road, the local notes below are written with your address in mind.

A neighbourhood built on bungalow lanes

Koregaon Park began in the early 1920s as Koregaon Road Estate, when British families settled on land that belonged to Ghorpuri village, and many of its plots were later bought by merchants and princely families. The lanes are still known for British-era bungalows and large old trees. Today the old bungalows share the ground with apartment buildings, hotels, cafes and offices, so one lane can contain a two-storey house with an outside staircase, a block with a lift, and a service flat above a shop.

For a home visit this mix matters more than the postal address. A bungalow often has a garden path, a raised verandah and a staircase that sits outside the main door. An apartment may have a lift but a narrow bathroom. We ask about all of this when you book, so the physiotherapist arrives knowing what the day will involve.

Reaching Koregaon Park: bridges, diversions and one-way roads

The neighbourhood is bordered by water and railway on most sides, so almost every journey into it crosses a bridge. Koregaon Park connects to Yerawada over the Bund Garden bridge and to Kalyani Nagar over the Aga Khan Bridge, and it also links to the Cantonment and Magarpatta. Our physiotherapists start from the clinic base on Katraj–Kondhwa Road and the usual approach is through the Cantonment side.

The Sadhu Vaswani Bridge, the link between Camp and Koregaon Park, was closed on 26 May 2024 so that the Pune Municipal Corporation could demolish and rebuild it. At the time, the traffic police made stretches around Bund Garden Road and Mangaldas Road one-way, and local residents complained about long jams. As of October 2026 the civic body is targeting completion by December 2026, with traffic expected to use the new bridge in January 2027. A new Ghorpadi flyover, which is expected to ease the route between Ghorpadi, Mundhwa and Koregaon Park, is due to open around the same time. Until then, we book Koregaon Park visits as a time window rather than a fixed minute, and the physiotherapist tells you if the road delays them.

Parking is a second constraint. Lane numbers 5, 6 and 7 are busy in the evening because of restaurants and bars, and police have in the past restricted parking on South Main Road and the lower lanes for events. When you book, mention the lane number, the building name and the nearest chowk, and tell us where a two-wheeler can be left safely.

What we are most often asked to treat here

Koregaon Park has many long-time residents in large, older homes, and a working population that commutes to offices, hotels and restaurants. Between them, the usual requests follow a few patterns, and each has a dedicated page for this neighbourhood:

General background on each problem sits on our back pain, knee pain and elderly care condition pages. Neck pain from desk work is also common; see neck pain physiotherapy if that is your problem.

Households with domestic help and live-in carers

Many homes in Koregaon Park run with a cook, a driver or a full-time attendant, which changes what a physiotherapy plan can ask for. A programme that depends on the patient doing twenty minutes of exercises alone will fail if the patient wants company, whereas one built around a helper who understands the exercises usually survives. We ask who is at home at which hours, then set the schedule and the written steps accordingly. We also ask whether the helper has any back or shoulder trouble of their own, because lifting a heavy relative is a common reason for a caregiver to need physiotherapy too.

Walking and exercise spaces nearby

Once a person can walk safely indoors, a short outdoor route becomes part of recovery. Koregaon Park has several: the shaded lanes themselves, which draw morning and evening walkers, Osho Teerth Park on D. H. Dhunjibhoy Road between lanes 2 and 3, and Bund Garden, the public garden beside the old Fitzgerald Bridge. The Fitzgerald Bridge is closed to vehicles and has been turned into a space for arts and artisans, which makes its approach a calmer place to practise than the main roads.

We pick the location with you. Early in rehabilitation the corridor of your own building is safer than a park path, and a person with poor balance should walk with someone beside them. Uneven paving, tree roots and busy crossings are the usual hazards, so the physiotherapist assesses them before setting any outdoor target.

The areas around Koregaon Park we cover

Three smaller parts of the neighbourhood have their own pages with local detail:

  • North Main Road, the tree-lined spine with schools and the link towards Kalyani Nagar.
  • Bund Garden Road, the busy corridor to the river, the bridge and the metro station.
  • Dhole Patil Road, in Sangamvadi, near Ruby Hall Clinic metro station and the railway colonies.

Next door, we also visit homes in Camp, Kalyani Nagar, Yerawada and Mundhwa. If your address sits on the border between two of these, book under whichever name you use and mention the landmark.

Caring for a parent in a large house

A pattern that shows up in neighbourhoods with older bungalows is a parent who lives in a big home while a son or daughter works long hours or lives elsewhere. A helper or caregiver is often present during the day, and the family wants to know exactly what is safe. The physiotherapist can show the helper how to guide a transfer from bed to chair, how to stand beside rather than in front of someone climbing steps, and which exercises can be repeated daily without supervision. For a clear picture of the main risks, read our page on fall prevention therapy.

If you live abroad and are arranging care for a parent in Pune, you can book on their behalf and name a family contact for the physiotherapist. Say at the time of booking how you would like to be kept informed.

What the first visit includes

The first appointment is a full assessment. The physiotherapist takes a history, checks for warning signs that need a doctor first, tests strength, movement and balance, and watches you do the tasks that cause trouble. Treatment usually begins in the same visit, combining hands-on work, exercise and, where suitable, a portable electrotherapy device. You are left with a short home programme and a clear next step. Please keep recent scans, discharge summaries and the list of your medicines ready. Charges for home sessions are listed on the pricing page.

Symptoms that need a doctor first

Call an ambulance or go to an emergency department for chest pain, sudden weakness or numbness on one side, a drooping face, slurred speech, a sudden severe headache, new loss of bladder or bowel control, or a fall with a possible fracture. Increasing leg weakness with back pain, or a hot, swollen calf after surgery, also needs prompt medical assessment. Physiotherapy can follow once a doctor has seen you.

Booking a physiotherapist in Koregaon Park

Choose a date on the booking page and give the lane or road, the building and floor, the nearest chowk, and whether there is a lift. We will confirm the visit window with you. The first assessment is free and needs no scan beforehand.

Common Questions

Home physiotherapy in Koregaon Park: questions families ask

Do you visit homes on the numbered lanes as well as North Main Road?
Yes. Homes on the numbered lanes, North Main Road, South Main Road and the streets leading towards Bund Garden are all part of our Koregaon Park visits. Give the lane number, the building or bungalow name and the nearest chowk when you book.
Will the Sadhu Vaswani Bridge closure affect my appointment?
It can. The bridge has been closed for rebuilding since May 2024 and the civic body is working towards a December 2026 finish, so some routes are one-way or longer. We book a time window rather than an exact minute and let you know if the physiotherapist is running late.
My father lives in a bungalow with steps at the entrance. Can he still be treated at home?
Yes, and the steps become part of the assessment. The physiotherapist looks at the rail, the surface and the lighting, and adds step practice only when your father can manage it safely with someone beside him.
Can I book care for a parent from another city or country?
Yes. You can book for a parent and name a family member or helper who will be at home for the visit. Please send any discharge summaries or reports in advance, and mention how you would like to be updated.
Is there somewhere safe to practise walking in Koregaon Park?
It depends on the person. The shaded lanes, Osho Teerth Park and the Bund Garden area are all used for walks, but uneven paving and tree roots can be hazards. The physiotherapist will tell you when you are ready for outdoor practice and which route to start with.
