Physiotherapist home visits on Bund Garden Road, Pune, planned around bridge works and one-way roads, for back pain, stroke and post-surgery recovery.
Bund Garden Road is where Koregaon Park meets the river. It carries traffic between the neighbourhood, the Cantonment and the bridge over the Mula-Mutha, which means a household here is rarely far from a main road, a metro station or a hospital route, and yet reaching a clinic can still take longer than expected. Proper Care Physiotherapy brings the treatment to the flat or house instead.
This page covers how home physiotherapy works around Bund Garden Road: the traffic pattern we plan for, what the surroundings offer for recovery, and the situations in which people here most often call. For the broader neighbourhood and its treatment pages, start with home physiotherapy in Koregaon Park.
The area takes its name from the Bund Garden, also called Mahatma Gandhi Udyan, which sits beside the Fitzgerald Bridge. The garden was opened in 1869, and it is named for the bandh, or small dam, on the river. The Fitzgerald Bridge itself dates from 1867 and is now closed to vehicles; it has been turned into a place for artists and artisans. The crossing that matters most to this stretch of road today is the Sadhu Vaswani Bridge, which links Camp with Koregaon Park.
That bridge was closed on 26 May 2024 for demolition and reconstruction. While the work goes on, the traffic police have kept several roads one-way. The Free Press Journal reported that the stretch from Moboj Chowk to Mahatma Gandhi Udyan Chowk on Bund Garden Road runs in one direction, along with sections from Parnakuti Chowk through Blue Diamond Chowk. Residents told Pune Pulse in May 2024 that the one-way system on Mangaldas Road and Bund Garden Road had created long jams and forced short trips to become long ones. As of October 2026 the municipal commissioner has set December 2026 as the target, with the new bridge expected to carry traffic in January 2027.
A physiotherapist does not need to cross the bridge to treat you if the route has been planned well, but one-way sections can add loops. We therefore agree a time window with you. If you have a hospital follow-up or a scan on that day, tell us so the home visit does not clash with it. Late morning is usually easier than the office-hour peaks.
Give a clear landmark when you book: the chowk you are nearest to, which side of the road you are on, the building name and the floor. Bund Garden Road has several junctions in close succession, and a driver who is told "after Mahatma Gandhi Udyan Chowk, left" is easier to guide than one who is simply given a house number.
Bund Garden metro station on the Aqua Line opened on 6 March 2024 and the garden is about 2 km from Pune Junction railway station. For a family member who comes to help a parent in the afternoons, that is a practical way to arrive without a car. For the patient, however, public transport is often the last thing to resume after an operation, and we generally do not advise it until the surgeon and the physiotherapist agree that it is safe.
The garden itself is a public green space where people walk. Whether it suits you depends on your stage of recovery. Early on, a short walk on a flat path with someone beside you is the target; later, the physiotherapist may suggest a longer loop and a rest stop. Wait for the go-ahead before taking on kerbs, crowds or the approach roads, and avoid the busy road edges when traffic is dense.
For general information on each, read our back pain, post-surgery rehabilitation and stroke rehabilitation condition pages.
Around Bund Garden Road you will find a mix of older bungalows, apartment buildings and offices. That variety is good for physiotherapy at home because the physiotherapist can see exactly what the patient faces: a lift that shuts at night, a narrow bathroom door, a rug that curls at the edge. Please keep a clear stretch of floor and a firm chair with arms ready for the session.
If the building has security at the gate, send the guard your visitor's name beforehand. A delayed entry costs the patient treatment time.
Within the Koregaon Park group, homes along North Main Road and in Sangamvadi on Dhole Patil Road are visited the same way. Across the river, Yerawada and, towards the Cantonment, Camp are also on our list.
If you have chest pain, sudden weakness on one side, slurred speech, a new severe headache, a fall followed by severe pain or an inability to bear weight, or loss of bladder or bowel control, seek emergency care first. Physiotherapy is for afterwards.
Use the appointment page to choose a day, and add the nearest chowk and the building name. We will confirm the time window by phone.
