Home physiotherapy in Shastrinagar, Yerawada, Pune: visits planned around the chowk, the flyover works and parking limits on Nagar Road.
Shastrinagar is the part of Yerawada that most Pune drivers know by its junction. Shastri Nagar Chowk sits on Nagar Road close to the Aga Khan Palace, and the neighbourhood around it has been living with construction, diversions and parking rules for the last two years. Anyone looking for a physiotherapist in Shastrinagar is therefore weighing up two questions at once: who can treat me, and how will they reach me?
Our physiotherapists come to the house or flat in Shastrinagar rather than asking you to join the queue. This page explains how we handle the roads, what the visit involves, and which problems we are asked about most often. For the wider area and how visits run across it, see home physiotherapy in Yerawada.
The civic body's plan for Shastrinagar is a 750-metre, six-lane grade separator between the Aga Khan Palace and Gunjan Chowk, together with a 700-metre, four-lane flyover between the palace and Golf Chowk. In mid-August 2026 the municipal commissioner told officials to finish the grade separator within four months and the whole project by March 2027.
The effect on the ground has been a series of changes. Police introduced a no-parking and no-halting zone for 200 metres from Shastri Nagar Chowk towards Golf Club Chowk, and asked heavy vehicles to use another route via Gunjan Chowk. In March 2025 the direct entry from the chowk into Kalyani Nagar was closed, and drivers now go about 700 metres further and make a U-turn near the Aga Khan Palace. Residents complained of near-misses at that turn, and the police said they intended to make the closure permanent after the flyover is built.
For a home visit this has two consequences. The physiotherapist cannot always stop outside your building, so we ask for the entrance that is easiest to reach on foot. And the arrival time is a window, not a minute. If a delay builds up we let you know instead of leaving you waiting.
People who live in Shastrinagar and work elsewhere spend a surprising part of the week at the junction. Riders brake, balance and put a foot down repeatedly. Car drivers sit with a tense right leg and a rounded back. Both end up with the same complaints: a stiff lower back in the evening, a sore neck, and in some people a knee that clicks after a long ride.
These patterns are easy to treat when caught early. Our pages for back pain physiotherapy in Yerawada and knee pain physiotherapy in Yerawada describe the assessment, and the back pain condition guide covers causes in general. If the pain is mostly in the neck and shoulders, the neck pain page is the better place to start.
A busy junction can quietly shrink an older person's routine. Crossing takes longer than it did, the signal changes before they are across, and a diversion appears where there was a safe path. Some stop going out for shopping and temple visits, and their legs weaken further.
A home programme works on that loss directly: sit-to-stand strength, balance, and walking practice inside the building before any outdoor target is set. When the physiotherapist judges it safe, practice moves to the lane outside at a quiet hour with a relative alongside. Our elderly physiotherapy in Yerawada page describes what that looks like.
Recovery from a knee or hip replacement, a fracture or a spine operation involves a plan for the stairs, the entrance and the first outing. The first follow-up with the surgeon is often the hardest trip, because it means a vehicle, a driver who can stop near the door and a companion. We plan this with you at the first visit. You can read the general approach on our post-surgery rehabilitation in Yerawada page, and the condition guide explains the stages of recovery.
The first assessment is free. A scan is not needed to book.
Next door are Gunjan Chowk, on the airport side of the Aga Khan Palace, and Sangamwadi, towards the river. We also visit Kalyani Nagar across Nagar Road. If you are unsure which pocket your address falls in, book under the name you use and mention the chowk.
Chest pain, sudden weakness on one side, a drooping face, slurred speech, a fall with a possible fracture, or new loss of bladder or bowel control needs emergency care. Treatment can begin once a doctor has assessed you. To book, use the booking page.
