Home Physiotherapy in Sangamwadi, Pune

Home physiotherapy in Sangamwadi, Pune, at the Mula-Mutha confluence beside Sangam Bridge, for back and knee pain and recovery after stroke or surgery.

Sangamwadi takes its name from the sangam, the meeting of the Mula and Mutha rivers, and the neighbourhood sits right beside the bridge that crosses the Mutha just before they join. It is the first stretch of Yerawada for anyone coming from the railway station side, which makes it a place people pass through quickly and live in with some effort. Traffic builds at the bridge and at the junction beyond it, and a visit to a clinic means joining it.

Our physiotherapists treat patients at home in Sangamwadi, so the bridge is crossed by them and not by you. This page explains how the river crossing and the planned road works shape our visits, what we are most often asked to treat, and how to book. For the wider area, see home physiotherapy in Yerawada.

A neighbourhood defined by one bridge and one junction

Sangam Bridge was once the Wellesley bridge and was rebuilt after the Panshet floods, taking its present name from the confluence. Close to it stands the Pune RTO office on Dr. Ambedkar Road, which gives the address a pin code of 411001 in some listings, while India Post places Yerwada on 411006. If your own address shows either, that is fine; what matters for the visit is the building name and the nearest landmark.

The road that matters most is the corridor from Bindu Madhav Thackeray Chowk to Ambedkar Chowk. The civic body has invited bids for a four-lane flyover linking Khadki with Bund Garden Road and a grade separator for traffic from Sangamwadi towards Ambedkar Chowk and Bund Garden, a project with a construction timeline of 30 months. In July 2026 it also approved widening the road from its present 20 to 25 metres to 30 metres. The same article describes the route as linking Yerawada, Sangamwadi, the railway station, Viman Nagar and Nagar Road.

None of these works has to stop a home visit, but they explain why we book a window. If you are expecting a physiotherapist, tell us the lane you are on and the side of the bridge you are nearest, because the approach from one side can be much slower than from the other.

Back, neck and hips after the crossing

Many residents cross the river every day, by two-wheeler, car or bus. The ride is short on the map but long in the body: braking on the ramp, sitting still in a queue, then standing on a platform or at a desk. The result is often a stiff lower back, a tight neck and sore hips by evening.

The physiotherapist asks about your commute and tests how you sit, stand and turn. Treatment combines hands-on work, a short exercise set and changes to how you sit in the vehicle or at work. The pages on back pain physiotherapy in Yerawada and the general back pain guide explain this in more depth. For neck and shoulder tightness, see neck pain physiotherapy.

Follow-up trips across the river

For people recovering from a stroke or an operation, the awkward part is rarely the home session itself. It is the follow-up visit, often at a hospital on the other side of the river. The route crosses a bridge, a busy junction and perhaps a parking search at the far end. That makes timing and help at both ends important.

We use the home sessions to prepare for it: practising the transfer into a car seat, rehearsing the stairs down from the flat, and agreeing a plan for the person who goes along. Our pages on stroke rehabilitation in Yerawada and post-surgery rehabilitation in Yerawada describe the stages. If your doctor has already advised home care after discharge, you can read the post-surgery condition guide.

Older residents and the walk to the river

Where a bridge and a river are close by, a walk to look at the water is a natural habit. For an older person recovering their strength it can make a good goal, but the approach to the bridge is also a busy road. The physiotherapist tests the walk indoors first, then suggests a distance in the lane outside, and only later considers a longer route with a family member close beside them. Pavements near the bridge approaches can be narrow, so we pay attention to the surface, the traffic and the point at which to turn back.

Common Questions

Home physiotherapy in Sangamwadi: questions families ask

Do you visit homes near Sangam Bridge in Sangamwadi?
Yes. Give us the building name, floor and the nearest lane or chowk, and say whether a two-wheeler can be parked close to the door. Parking near the bridge approaches is limited, so a family member at the gate helps.
What pin code goes on my Sangamwadi address?
India Post lists Yerwada on 411006, but some addresses near Sangam Bridge use 411001. Use the one on your own address and name the nearest landmark when booking; that is what matters for finding you.
Will the planned flyover works affect visit timing?
They may. The municipal plans for the Yerawada corridor include a flyover and grade separator and a road widening, which can change traffic at short notice. We give a visit window and tell you if there is a delay.
Can my father be treated at home if hospital check-ups across the river are hard for him?
Yes. Home sessions work on strength, balance and walking in his own surroundings. For follow-up trips, the physiotherapist helps plan a safe way to manage transfers into a vehicle and the entrance to the building.
