Physiotherapist home visits along Shankar Sheth Road, Pune, from Swargate and Ghorpade Peth to Seven Loves Chowk and Golibar Maidan.
Shankar Sheth Road is better known for its traffic than for its homes, yet many families live in the colonies and peth lanes on either side of it. Proper Care Physiotherapy sends a physiotherapist to those homes, so that a painful back, a new knee or a parent recovering from a stroke can be treated without anyone having to cross the road to a clinic. The visit takes place where the daily difficulty sits: the steps up to the flat, the bed, the chair by the window.
This page covers home physiotherapy on Shankar Sheth Road (also written Shankarsheth or Shankarshet Road), from the Swargate end near Jedhe Chowk to Golibar Maidan. It sets out where we visit, how the road's traffic shapes the timing, what people here are usually treated for, and how to book.
Shankar Sheth Road links Swargate with Pulgate by way of Golibar Maidan, where it meets the start of Pune–Solapur Road. Heading east from the bus station at Jedhe Chowk, the Swargate stretch passes Ghorpade Peth, reaches Seven Loves Chowk in Mahatma Phule Peth, runs past Kumar Pacific Mall and arrives at the Golibar Maidan junction on the edge of the Cantonment.
The frontage is mostly commercial: banks, hotels, a mall, coaching institutes and a steady line of shops. The homes are a few steps back from it. Ghorpade Peth runs along the Swargate end, and Ekbote Colony lies just off the road on the Swargate side of Seven Loves Chowk. The chowk itself is in Mahatma Phule Peth, the old Ganj Peth. Addresses around Kumar Pacific Mall give the locality as Katad Khana, and Bhavani Peth is close by. From Seven Loves Chowk, Nehru Road heads south past Gultekdi towards Gangadham Chowk.
Housing changes from one lane to the next. Ghorpade Peth was laid out in 1781 and Mahatma Phule Peth in 1789, and both still have wadas: older homes with stone walls, a central courtyard and narrow wooden stairs. Next to them stand apartment buildings, not all of which have a lift. For a patient, the building matters as much as the diagnosis, because it decides whether they can get down to the street at all.
Our physiotherapists set out from the clinic base on Katraj–Kondhwa Road. Homes near the Swargate end are reached up Pune–Satara Road, where work on the underground metro between Swargate and Katraj has narrowed the carriageway and slowed the evening rush in 2026. For the Seven Loves Chowk and Gultekdi side, the route can run through Gangadham Chowk and along Nehru Road instead.
The road has its own pinch points. Traffic from Shankar Sheth Road dips through an underpass at Jedhe Chowk towards Saras Baug, and that underpass has been closed for repairs before. At the far end, local news has described the Golibar Maidan junction as narrow and often congested. In 2025, residents raised complaints that streetlights on the Swargate stretch near Ekbote Colony were not working, leaving it dark after sunset. None of this stops a visit, but it explains why we agree a time window rather than an exact minute, and why some families prefer a daylight slot for an older patient.
When you book, tell us which end of the road you are nearer, the chowk or building you are close to, and whether a two-wheeler can be parked near your gate. The road is divided along much of its length, so knowing which side you live on saves a long loop back.
The people we see here range from shop owners and office staff who work on the road to long-settled peth families and students. The reasons for a visit include:
Exercise carries most of the treatment. Hands-on techniques such as manual therapy, and electrotherapy such as TENS, are added when pain is getting in the way of movement, never as a replacement for it.
If you can ride or take an autorickshaw comfortably and climb your own stairs, a clinic may suit you. A home visit makes more sense when the trip itself is the problem: sciatica that flares on every jolt, the weeks after a joint replacement, walking that has become unsafe after a stroke, or an older parent for whom a busy crossing is now a real risk. At home, the physiotherapist also sees the actual staircase, bathroom and bed the patient has to manage, and the family learns the exercises in the room where they will do them.
The main road is no place to rebuild walking confidence, with its constant traffic, dividers and crowded junctions. The side lanes are quieter, and Ghorpade Garden in Ghorpade Peth has pathways, benches to rest on and a morning yoga group for senior citizens. Once a patient is ready, the physiotherapist may walk the route with them, choosing where to stop and where to cross, before they try it alone or with a family member.
Shankar Sheth Road is one of the neighbourhoods we visit from our home physiotherapy service in Swargate. Nearby areas with their own pages include Mukund Nagar close to the bus station, Gultekdi and its quieter neighbour Salisbury Park, and Hirabaug and Parvati on the other side of Jedhe Chowk. If you are unsure whether your lane is included, ask when you book.
Some symptoms need a doctor straight away, not physiotherapy. Go to an emergency department for sudden weakness of the face, arm or leg or slurred speech; chest pain or breathlessness after surgery; back pain with loss of bladder or bowel control or numbness in the saddle area; or a fall or road accident after which the person cannot bear weight. If the physiotherapist finds warning signs during a visit, treatment stops until a doctor has seen the patient.
Request a visit on the booking page or by phone. Tell us the nearest chowk or landmark, the floor and whether there is a lift, the main problem and any recent hospital stay, and the hours when the patient and a family member are at home. Home session charges are listed on the pricing page. The first visit is longer than later ones, because it includes the assessment and a plan for the weeks ahead; we will explain what we expect to change, without promising a recovery date.
