Physiotherapist home visits in Ghorpadi, Pune, including B T Kawade Road and Sopan Baug, for back and knee pain, stroke recovery and elderly care.
Home physiotherapy in Ghorpadi, Pune, means a physiotherapist comes to your door instead of asking you to cross a railway line, queue at a junction and find parking at a clinic. Proper Care Physiotherapy visits apartments and houses across Ghorpadi, assesses the problem in the setting where it happens, treats it, and leaves you with a plan to follow until the next visit.
Ghorpadi is an established neighbourhood with a settled feel. It borders Koregaon Park and Mundhwa, runs along a railway line, and sits near the cantonment. Its roads are busy, but many of its streets are quiet, and its residents include long-time owners, older couples and families with parents living upstairs. This page explains how visits work here, what we are commonly asked to treat and how to book.
The railway is the main fact of Ghorpadi's geography. Ghorpadi railway station, listed on Wikipedia under the older name Ghorpuri, has two platforms and sits on the Pune–Miraj and Pune–Bangalore lines. Trains cross the neighbourhood, and the level crossing nearby has long been a source of queues. A railway flyover is under construction; a report dated 2 October 2026 said the work was about 90 per cent complete and the flyover was likely to open to traffic in January 2027, with road surfacing, painting, utility relocation and signage still to be finished. When it opens, it is expected to help traffic between Ghorpadi, Mundhwa, Koregaon Park, Kharadi, the Cantonment and Pune Railway Station.
Until then, visits are planned with this in mind. Earlier diversions, reported in September 2024, sent heavier vehicles via B T Kawade Road and Sopan Baug Chowk towards Solapur Road, and some restrictions may still apply. We book a time window instead of an exact minute and the physiotherapist phones if the crossing holds them up. If you know a quicker way into your lane, tell us.
Pin codes in this part of Pune are a muddle. Portals list Ghorpadi under 411001, a code that India Post attaches to the Ghorpuri Bazar sub post office among others, while streets towards Mundhwa use 411036. Do not worry about the discrepancy. Use whatever is on your own address and add a landmark and a phone number to your booking.
Our guides to shoulder pain, hip pain and balance problems cover other complaints we see, and a home visit adds the local picture.
Ghorpadi mixes housing types. Some streets have older low-rise apartment buildings and houses where the staircase is steep, the landing narrow and a lift either absent or unreliable. Others have newer, taller blocks with a lift, a guarded gate and a car park. Both are workable for physiotherapy, but they present different tasks. In the older building, the physiotherapist concentrates on how the patient manages the stairs, how to get a wheelchair or walker through a doorway and whether anyone can help carry. In the newer block, the topic is more likely the gate procedure, the lift dimensions and the corridor length.
When you book, please tell us the building type, the floor and whether there is a lift. That one piece of information changes what the physiotherapist plans to bring and teach.
It is common in established neighbourhoods for two generations to share a building, with grandparents on the ground or first floor and children above. The advantage is that help is close; the disadvantage is that the person who needs the exercises may not be the person who hears the instructions. We aim to include the helper in the session whenever we can.
Patients recovering from a knee, hip or stroke problem need a safe place to rebuild walking. Quiet lanes in residential parts of Ghorpadi and the compound of an apartment complex are the usual choices, while the main roads are poor places for recovery because of traffic. Keep outdoor walking for later in the programme and begin it with a companion at a quiet hour. Near the race course and Koregaon Park, open stretches are easier, though the surface and the weather still matter, and the physiotherapist will advise before you start.
Ghorpadi lies between Koregaon Park, Mundhwa and the road to the railway station, so many residents spend part of each day on the move: a car along B T Kawade Road, a two-wheeler towards Kharadi or Magarpatta, an auto to the station. Each has its own cost. Riders hold the neck and shoulders tense, drivers sit with the right leg extended for long stretches, and passengers in autos take every pothole through the lower back. We ask about your usual route and mode of travel at the first visit because it often explains why a stiff neck or an aching hip keeps returning.
The advice that follows is practical rather than sweeping. A short walk before you get into the vehicle, a firm cushion behind the lower back, a stop to stretch on a long trip, and a few mobility exercises on your return. Few people have time for a long routine, so the programme is built from the smallest set of exercises that does the job.
Many Ghorpadi households have a member abroad or in another city who arranges care for a parent. If that is your situation, you can book on your parent's behalf, give us both phone numbers and ask us to update you after each visit. We will describe what we found, what the parent managed, and what should happen before the next session. It is also sensible to ask the physiotherapist how much the parent can do alone, so that a helper can step back when the person is ready.
Within Ghorpadi we cover B T Kawade Road, the main road with the apartment blocks along it, and Sopan Baug, the residential area close to Koregaon Park. Neighbouring areas have their own pages: Mundhwa across the river, Koregaon Park, Camp and Wanowrie.
You are asked about the problem, your medicines and any scans or operations. The physiotherapist examines movement, strength, balance and sensation, screens for warning signs and tests the activities you find hard. Treatment starts during the same visit and may include hands-on work, exercise and advice about posture and pacing. You are left with a short programme and told what will be checked next time. Details of cost are on the pricing page.
Call an ambulance or go to an emergency department for sudden weakness on one side, a drooping face, difficulty speaking, chest pain, breathlessness, loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the groin, a high fever with severe back pain, or pain and swelling in one calf after surgery. Any new fall with head injury or unrelenting pain should be assessed medically before exercise begins.
Open the booking page, give your address, landmark, floor and a time of day that suits you, and describe the problem in a line or two. The team then confirms a visit window.
