Home Physiotherapy in Pulgate, Pune

Physiotherapist home visits at Pulgate, Camp, Pune, where MG Road, East Street and Solapur Road meet, for commuters and older residents.

Pulgate is a place people pass through more than they stay in. MG Road and East Street both end here, Shankar Sheth Road arrives from Swargate, and the Pune–Solapur Road begins, so the junction and the PMPML bus stand on its edge carry a steady flow of commuters. If you are looking for a physiotherapist in Pulgate, Proper Care Physiotherapy visits homes in and around it, and plans around the fact that this is one of the places in Pune where the road can disappear for a day or two.

Pulgate is part of Camp, which is covered in more detail at home physiotherapy in Camp. This page deals with the junction, its closures and what patients here tend to ask for.

Where the roads meet at Pulgate

Mapping data lists the Pulgate bus stand road within Pune Cantonment, 411001, and Pulgate has no post office under its own name, so addresses use the cantonment code. Roads meet from several directions: MG Road and East Street from the Camp side, Shankar Sheth Road from Swargate by way of Golibar Maidan, and the Solapur Road heading towards Wanowrie, the Race Course and Hadapsar. Because so many roads converge here, a small blockage spreads quickly.

For a home visit, the most useful thing you can tell us is which side of the junction you are on and which road you use to leave it.

The Palkhi days, and other times the junction stops

Each July the Palkhi processions of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj pass through the cantonment on their way to Pandharpur. In 2026 the advisory issued by the cantonment board, traffic police and Southern Command described a route along MG Road, Pul Gate, Mamma Devi Chowk and the Pune–Solapur Highway, a stretch of around 2.2 kilometres, with an expected five to ten lakh walkers. The stretch from MG Road to Bhairoba Nalla Chowk was closed to vehicles from late on 10 July until noon on 12 July, controls were placed at Limb Centre Chowk, Turf Club Chowk, the Water Tank, Race Course Gate and Mamma Devi Chowk, and an emergency corridor was kept open at Turf Club Chowk.

If you live near Pulgate, a visit planned for those dates would be difficult for everyone. Tell us when you book, and we will suggest the days either side. The same applies to the Christmas and Eid-e-Milad restrictions along MG Road.

Commuters: back, neck and knee after the daily journey

A junction that serves a bus stand brings people who spend the day travelling: standing in crowded buses, hanging from a rail, or riding two-wheelers through slow traffic. The aches that follow are familiar:

  • lower back pain after standing in a moving bus, where the body is constantly correcting for jolts;
  • neck and shoulder tightness from hanging on to a rail or looking down at a phone while waiting;
  • knee pain from repeated climbing into high bus steps and down again.

See back pain physiotherapy in Camp and knee pain physiotherapy in Camp for what we do about them. A home visit lets us watch how you stand up from a chair, get out of bed and climb your own stairs, which often tells us more than a clinic examination.

Walkers on the Solapur Road

The Solapur Road is one of the roads used by devotees who walk towards Pandharpur for the Wari. People who return from a long walk often have sore feet, tight calves and knees that complain on the stairs. Short, graded walking afterwards, with a day of rest between longer efforts, usually helps, and if one knee swells or gives way, the physiotherapist should see it before the next long walk. Physiotherapy is not a substitute for medical care if there is fever, a hot swollen leg or severe pain.

Older residents near the junction

Living close to a busy junction does not make going out easier for an older person. Noise, two-wheelers and the length of a crossing keep some people indoors for weeks. Our elderly physiotherapy in Camp page explains the strength and balance programme that helps them regain confidence, starting inside the home.

Close by in Camp

Towards the older bazaar side of the cantonment is Lashkar. The neighbouring area of Wanowrie has its own page.

When to see a doctor first

Go to an emergency department for chest pain, breathlessness, sudden weakness or numbness on one side, a drooping face or slurred speech, or a fall with severe pain. A hot, red, swollen leg needs medical review too.

Booking a physiotherapist at Pulgate

Common Questions

Home physiotherapy in Pulgate: questions families ask

I live near the Pulgate bus stand. How do I describe my address?
Give the building name, the floor, the road you use to reach the junction and a nearby chowk such as Mamma Devi Chowk. Pulgate has no post office of its own, so a full address helps more than a pin code.
My back and neck ache after my commute. Can physiotherapy help?
Often. The physiotherapist checks how you stand, sit and ride, treats tight muscles and teaches exercises and posture changes that suit your journey. If pain spreads into an arm or leg, or you notice numbness, tell us at booking.
What if the Palkhi or a festival closes the roads on my appointment day?
Police announce closures a few days ahead. Tell us when you book and we will suggest an earlier hour or another day so that nobody is stuck at a barricade.
Can older parents who avoid crossing the junction be treated at home?
Yes. The first visits focus on leg strength, balance and safe transfers indoors. We add stair practice and short outings only when the physiotherapist judges it safe.
