Home Physiotherapy in Lashkar, Pune

Physiotherapist home visits in Lashkar, the older bazaar side of Camp, Pune, near Lashkar Police Station, for older residents and recovery at home.

Lashkar is the name carried by the police station that covers the whole cantonment. We use it on this page for the older, central stretch of Camp around that station: a tight cluster of chowks, lanes and old buildings that grew up as the civilian bazaar beside the barracks. If you are searching for a physiotherapist near Lashkar Police Station, this page explains how our visits work in that part of Camp.

The wider cantonment is covered on our home physiotherapy in Camp page. Here the focus is on the lanes, the housing and the practicalities that shape a visit in the older part.

What we mean by Lashkar, and how to place your address

There is no official boundary for Lashkar as a neighbourhood, so we describe it by the junctions people use. Published diversion plans for Christmas 2025 name several of them: Teen Tofa Chowk, SBI House Chowk, Mahaveer Chowk, Sarbatwala Chowk and the chowk at Lashkar Police Station itself, with Taboot Street Road named as one of the diversion routes. The Eid-e-Milad route in 2026 also passes Babajan Dargah, Qureshi Masjid and Mohammed Rafi Chowk. If your address is near any of these, it is probably within this page's patch.

Post offices serving the area include Sachapir Street and Pune New Bazar, both with the pin code 411001. Because the lanes are close together, the building name and floor matter more than the pin code, and we ask for a landmark that a rickshaw driver would know.

An older Camp: bazaar lanes and long-standing households

In the cantonment's early years the traders and workers who served the troops lived in a demarcated part known as the Bazaar, and a published account places Sarbatwala Chowk firmly in it. That account also mentions Sachapir Street and Dastur Meher Road, the latter long a mainly Parsi enclave of older buildings, many of them now crumbling or empty, while the Parsis were also among the first allowed to own the bungalows on Arsenal and Napier roads. For a physiotherapist, what matters is the building type. Many homes here are on upper floors, reached by stairs that were built for another era, with high thresholds, narrow doors and little room to turn.

That affects which treatment is realistic. A walking frame may not pass through a doorway; a shower with a step may need a stool and a helper; a flight of stairs may be the whole difference between a person who goes out and one who does not. The physiotherapist measures and tests these at the first visit instead of assuming.

Living alone in a lane house or flat

  • Long-time residents. Someone who has lived in the same flat for decades knows every step by heart, which helps until a knee or an eye gives way.
  • Children elsewhere. When a son or daughter lives in another city, a relative or neighbour may be the only person who looks in. We ask for their number and show them what to watch for.
  • Stairs as the main exercise. For a person who rarely goes out, the staircase may be the only exercise there is. We keep it safe and use it as part of the plan.
  • Crossing busy lanes. Bazaar lanes are crowded with vehicles and pedestrians, and a slow walker needs more time than traffic allows.

See elderly physiotherapy in Camp for the strength and balance programme, and fall prevention therapy for the topic in general. For knees that complain on the stairs, knee pain physiotherapy in Camp goes further.

Event days and the police station junctions

Several of these junctions are used when MG Road is closed, which means traffic is diverted past them and they fill quickly. On 24 and 25 December 2025 vehicles were redirected towards Lashkar Police Station via Teen Tofa Chowk and towards its chowk from Indira Gandhi Chowk. If your visit falls on a festival, a procession or Christmas evening, expect a delay and tell us in advance; we may suggest an earlier hour or another day.

Stroke and surgery recovery in a small flat

Recovery at home in a building without a lift needs planning from the day of discharge. Where will the patient sleep, how many steps lie between bed and bathroom, and who can help on the stairs? Our stroke rehabilitation in Camp and post-surgery rehabilitation in Camp pages set out how those first weeks are organised. The cantonment's hospitals are close, but the journey from the building to the car is where the effort is.

When to see a doctor first

Go to an emergency department for chest pain, sudden weakness or numbness on one side, a drooping face or slurred speech, new confusion in an older person, or a fall with severe pain or a limb that looks out of shape.

Book an appointment, naming the nearest chowk, the building, the floor, and whether the stairs have a rail. We do not promise recovery times, but every visit ends with a clear plan for the days ahead.

Common Questions

Home physiotherapy in Lashkar: questions families ask

Which part of Camp do you mean by Lashkar?
Lashkar is the name of the police station for the whole cantonment. We use it for the older, central lanes and junctions around that station, such as Teen Tofa Chowk, Mahaveer Chowk and Sarbatwala Chowk. If you are unsure whether your address falls here, tell us the nearest chowk when you book.
My mother lives alone in an old building near Sachapir Street. Can she be treated at home?
Yes. The physiotherapist checks the stairs, the doorways and the bathroom at the first visit and starts with strength and balance work indoors. We also ask for the number of a relative or neighbour who looks in.
Can I arrange visits from another city for my parents in Camp?
Yes. You can book on their behalf and give us the address and a local contact. With your parent's agreement, we explain the plan and what we found.
Will event-day traffic near the police station affect a visit?
It can on festival, procession and Christmas evenings, when diverted traffic fills the nearby junctions. Tell us when you book and we will agree an earlier hour or another day.
