Fursungi, Pune
After an operation, a Fursungi patient may live a long road away from the surgeon's hospital, in a block without a lift or a house with a step at every door. Proper Care Physiotherapy visits Fursungi homes by prior booking, reads your discharge notes, checks how you move around your home and guides exercises that stay within your surgeon's instructions.
For many Fursungi families the surgeon's hospital is a long way off, in Hadapsar or across the city. That distance is felt twice after an operation: once on the journey home, and again at every review. Recovery in between has to happen in the house or flat, and it goes better when someone qualified helps the family set it up.
The post-surgery rehabilitation guide describes the general course of recovery. This page is about managing it from Fursungi.
The physiotherapist begins with the discharge summary and the surgeon's instructions on weight-bearing, movement limits and wound care. After that we check pain, swelling, movement and strength, and watch how you move from bed to chair and to the toilet. Breathing and circulation exercises are taught early, because they matter after many operations. Then the exercise programme begins, matched to the operation: for example, joint movement and strength after a knee or hip replacement, bone protection after a fracture repair, or safe movement and posture after a spine operation.
We stay within what the surgeon allows. If the instructions are unclear, we ask before progressing. For knee operations, the stage-by-stage details are close to those described on knee pain physiotherapy in Fursungi.
Family members learn how to guard the patient while walking, how to help from bed to chair without lifting, and what signs to watch for. That protects both the patient and the helper's back. Where several relatives share the care, one method is agreed, so the patient hears the same instructions from everyone. Where relatives live elsewhere, we can share the plan with them, with the patient's consent.
A review at the hospital can mean a long ride on a road under reconstruction. Take someone with you, carry the discharge papers and medicine list, and ask the physiotherapist about the easiest way to get in and out of the vehicle. If the trip is by bus, ask whether it is advisable yet; many surgeons prefer a private vehicle in the first weeks.
Call the surgeon for spreading redness, discharge or a fever. Go to an emergency department for chest pain, sudden breathlessness, or a hot, swollen, painful calf, which may be a clot. A limb that turns cold, numb or pale also needs urgent care. Because the hospital is far, set off early.
Fursungi visits are planned in advance, so request a home visit as soon as the discharge date is known, and give the house or building name, floor and a landmark. The Fursungi area page describes how we reach you.

The usual course of post-surgery rehabilitation, adjusted at every visit to how you respond.
Physiotherapy is not the right first step if any of these apply. See a doctor the same day, or call emergency services if symptoms are severe:
