Elderly Physiotherapy at Home in Bhosari, Pune

Bhosari has many people who spent decades in the MIDC or the market and now move more slowly, and many parents who came from villages to live with working children. A Proper Care Physiotherapist visits you at home to test strength, balance and walking, and builds a safe routine around the flat, the stairs and the family's day.

Growing old in Bhosari looks different for different people. One man worked thirty years in an industrial unit and now finds his knees and back keep him indoors. A woman moved here from a village to live with her son's family and has not yet learned the building, the lift or the neighbours. A third lives in an older house and has not been out of the gate since a fall.

Our elderly physiotherapy guide describes the condition in general. This page covers what we do for older people at home in Bhosari. The Bhosari area page explains how visits are arranged across the town.

Three kinds of older patient

  • The retired worker. Decades of lifting, standing or driving leave a mark. Common findings are stiff hips, sore knees and tired backs, plus slower walking.
  • The parent who has moved in. Often healthy for their age but in an unfamiliar flat. The risk is a fall in the bathroom, on a polished floor, or at the lift door.
  • The long-time resident of an older house. Thresholds, steps at the door, low seats and dim rooms are the usual hazards. Many such residents stopped going out after a fall or an illness.

The physiotherapist asks which of these, if any, fits, and also asks about illnesses, medicines and eyesight. Dizziness on standing, for instance, may be a medical question first.

What a home assessment covers

At the first visit the physiotherapist tests strength in the legs and hands, balance with eyes open and closed, walking speed, and how you stand up from a chair and from the bed. They ask about falls in the last year, near misses, and fear of falling. They also look at the home: floor surfaces, rugs, lighting, the route to the toilet, and the height of the bed and chairs.

From this they build a short plan. It usually includes leg-strengthening exercises done sitting and standing, balance work near a support, and practice of getting up and down safely. The plan is made to be simple enough for the person to remember and for a relative to check.

A day with few helpers

In many households everyone else is at work. Exercises have to fit into the gaps, with a chair, a wall or a kitchen counter as support. We suggest linking exercises to routines the person already has: a few sit-to-stands after tea, a short walk down the corridor after lunch. Where a helper is present, the physiotherapist shows them how to stand beside, not in front of, the patient.

Pain from joints or the spine often sits alongside weak balance. Knee pain physiotherapy in Bhosari describes how we treat the joint pain that stops many older people walking.

Lifts, stairs and getting out again

In newer societies, a lift makes going out possible, but it brings its own difficulties: the gap at the door, the button heights, and the wait. In older buildings, stairs are the barrier. The physiotherapist practises both with the patient, starting with the building's own entrance. Outdoor walking is added in stages. We do not recommend a particular park or road without having seen it, because pavements near markets and the highway are often blocked.

Keeping the family informed

An older patient may not remember the detail of what was said, or may play down a problem. With permission, we explain changes to a family member and send the exercise plan in writing. If something worries the physiotherapist, such as repeated falls, confusion or weight loss, they say so plainly and advise seeing a doctor.

Signs in an older person that mean an emergency

Call an ambulance or go to an emergency department for sudden weakness or numbness on one side, a drooping face, slurred speech, new confusion, chest pain, severe breathlessness, or a fall followed by severe pain and an inability to stand. A fall with a blow to the head in someone taking blood-thinning medicine also needs urgent review, even if they seem well.

Arranging a visit

Visits to Bhosari are booked in advance because of the distance. Use the booking page, give the address, the floor, who will be at home and which hours suit. After an operation, post-surgery rehabilitation in Bhosari may also apply.

At Home

How a home session works

The usual course of elderly physiotherapy, adjusted at every visit to how you respond.

  1. Assessment and symptom mapping to identify what is driving pain, weakness, or poor movement
  2. Early pain relief, movement support, and practical advice to reduce daily aggravation
  3. Strength, balance, mobility, or function-specific exercises matched to the patient’s recovery stage
  4. Progress review, home-program changes, and return-to-routine planning as confidence improves

When to seek urgent medical care

Physiotherapy is not the right first step if any of these apply. See a doctor the same day, or call emergency services if symptoms are severe:

  • Recent major trauma, suspected fracture, or sudden inability to bear weight
  • Rapidly worsening weakness, severe numbness, fainting, or sudden loss of coordination
  • Breathing difficulty, chest pain, uncontrolled fever, or signs of infection
  • Sudden neurological change such as facial droop, speech problems, or one-sided weakness

Common Questions

Elderly Physiotherapy in Bhosari: questions patients ask

My father retired from a factory job and is now stiff every morning. Can physiotherapy help?
Often it eases stiffness and helps him stay active. The physiotherapist examines joints, muscles and posture, asks about old injuries, and sets gentle exercises. Morning stiffness that lasts a long time, swollen joints or fever should be reviewed by a doctor.
My mother has moved in from our village and feels unsafe in the flat. What can be done?
A first visit looks at the flat from her point of view: the bed, the toilet, the floor surfaces, the lighting and the lift. The physiotherapist suggests small changes and builds her confidence with balance exercises.
She is alone in the day while we are at work. Can the visit fit that?
Yes. Tell us who can open the door and when. We can explain the exercises to a neighbour or helper, and send the plan to you in writing if she agrees.
Do you visit older patients in Bhosari gaon, Indrayani Nagar and Dighi?
Yes, with visits booked in advance because of the distance from our base.
