Home Physiotherapy in Tilekar Nagar, Pune

Home physiotherapy in Tilekar Nagar, Kondhwa Budruk, Pune: a physiotherapist visits societies near ISKCON NVCC for knee, back and post-surgery recovery.

Tilekar Nagar is the part of Kondhwa Budruk that most people know through the ISKCON NVCC temple, a large complex that opened in 2013 and is described as the largest temple in Pune. Around it sit residential societies, shops and the chowks that the traffic police now run as a one-way loop. A physiotherapist in Tilekar Nagar spends as much time thinking about that loop as about the patient's knee.

This page explains how home physiotherapy in Tilekar Nagar works, and ties it to the rest of Kondhwa. Our base is on the same Katraj–Kondhwa Road that runs past the temple, which helps with reaching you.

Finding your way around the one-way loop

In April 2024 the Pune traffic police reorganised movement at Khadi Machine Chowk and along Katraj–Kondhwa Road after a rise in accidents. Vehicles now go from State Bank Chowk through Pundalik Tilekar Nagar Chowk to Khadi Machine Chowk in one direction, and return by Shriram Chowk and ISKCON Mandir Chowk. A right turn towards Katraj from Shatrunjaya Chowk was removed, with traffic sent left and then right at Dhariwal School. Heavy vehicles are banned on set stretches during the morning and evening peaks.

What that means for you: a house you can see from the main road may only be reachable by going round. When booking, tell us which side of the loop you live on, the chowk you use and the gate to enter by. The widening of the road, with the 50-metre carriageway due for traffic by March 2027, adds to the uncertainty, so we book a window and not a minute.

A temple visit as a recovery goal

For some residents the temple is part of the weekly or even daily routine. For someone recovering from a knee operation, a fracture or a stroke, a walk to a place of worship can be the most meaningful goal of all, and a good one to organise rehabilitation around. We ask patients what they want to be able to do again. If the answer is standing through an aarti, climbing a few steps to a shrine or walking round a complex, we work backwards from it:

  1. Strength and balance work indoors, until standing and turning are steady.
  2. Corridor and compound walking, extending distance a little at a time.
  3. Steps and ramps with a rail, practised with a family member beside the patient.
  4. A short trial outing at a quiet time, with a stick or walker if advised and a place to sit.

We do not promise when each stage will be reached. The physiotherapist reviews progress at each visit and will say plainly if a goal needs more time.

Societies, stairs and shared spaces

Tilekar Nagar's housing is a mixture of older low-rise buildings and newer societies. Older blocks may have steep stairs and no lift; newer societies have lifts, compounds and security desks. The same ward is hilly, and residents have reported low water pressure and unfinished internal roads in parts of Kondhwa Budruk. In an older block, we start with the staircase. In a newer one, we look at the lift lobby, the distance from the door to the bathroom and the height of the bed. Where water has to be stored or carried, we advise a patient not to lift buckets until cleared to do so.

To arrange a visit

Use the booking page and give your society's name, the nearest chowk and the floor. Common Questions

Home physiotherapy in Tilekar Nagar: questions families ask

Do you visit societies near the ISKCON NVCC temple?
Yes. Homes around the temple and the Tilekar Nagar chowks are part of our visits. Please tell us which side of the one-way loop you are on and which gate to use.
Can walking to the temple be set as a goal?
Yes. We ask each patient what they want to be able to do and plan backwards from it, moving from indoor walking to the compound, then to steps, then to a short trial outing at a quiet time. We do not promise dates; progress is reviewed at each visit.
Will road works delay the physiotherapist?
They can. The Katraj–Kondhwa Road is being widened and the traffic police run a one-way loop here, so we agree a visit window with you instead of an exact minute.
I live in an older building with no lift. Is that a problem?
No. The physiotherapist comes up to you, looks at the stairs as part of the assessment and adds stair practice only when it is safe.
