Home physiotherapy in Ramwadi, Pune, around the Aqua Line terminus on Nagar Road, for back and knee pain, stroke and rehabilitation after surgery.
For most Punekars, Ramwadi is a metro station: the eastern end of the Aqua Line, a stop on Nagar Road where the trains from Vanaz terminate. For the people who live around it, it is a neighbourhood squeezed between Viman Nagar, Chandan Nagar and Wadgaon Sheri, with a main road that never stops. Someone with a sore back or an elderly parent at home has two problems: finding a physiotherapist, and getting them to travel along that road.
Our physiotherapists make home visits in Ramwadi, so treatment does not depend on another trip along that road. This page explains how visits are planned around the metro works, what we are most often asked to treat, and how to book. The wider picture is on our Kalyani Nagar home physiotherapy page.
Ramwadi station opened on 6 March 2024 as the Aqua Line's elevated eastern terminal, and it sits on Nagar Road under pin code 411014, which the Vadgaon Sheri and Viman Nagar post offices also use. The Pune Metro describes the station as serving Viman Nagar, Chandan Nagar and Kharadi, and as giving access to Phoenix Market City, World Trade Centre and EON IT Park. It has a tactile path from road to platform and foot-over bridges.
That makes Ramwadi a place where many people begin and end a journey. Residents who work in Kharadi or in offices elsewhere on the metro line leave early and return late. A person who takes the metro each day may sit for the ride, stand on the platform and walk the last stretch to their building, which suits some bodies and punishes others.
The next phase of the line runs beyond Ramwadi. In September 2026 barricading was installed near the station for geotechnical work on the Ramwadi–Wagholi extension. The plan is a double-decker structure: a metro viaduct above, a six-lane elevated road below. The first phase is about 4.7 km, with stations at Vimannagar, Somnathnagar, Kharadi Bypass and Tuljabhavani Chowk. Commuters have already pointed to wrong-side driving, junction congestion and bottlenecks near U-turns.
We cannot make Nagar Road quicker, but we can plan for it. Visits are booked as a window, and the physiotherapist tells you if there is a delay. It helps if you tell us which side of the road your building is on, as a U-turn can add a long detour.
People who commute by metro often have a very specific pattern of strain. They carry a bag on one shoulder, stand in a packed carriage with one arm up, sit with a phone for the journey and walk briskly at both ends. The result is a stiff neck, a sore shoulder, a tired lower back and, for some, aching heels.
The physiotherapist asks about the route and the bag, then tests how you stand, sit and move. Treatment includes hands-on work, a short exercise routine you can do in ten minutes and changes such as swapping a shoulder bag for a rucksack. For the lower back, see back pain physiotherapy in Kalyani Nagar, and for neck and shoulder tightness the neck pain physiotherapy page.
After an operation or a stroke, the metro is a long-term goal rather than an early one. It demands standing in a moving carriage, handling steps or an escalator, and being jostled. We use it to set a target: when the patient can stand unsupported for several minutes, walk the building's corridor confidently and manage a flight of stairs, a short trip with a companion may be possible. The decision rests with the surgeon or doctor and the physiotherapist together.
In the meantime, home rehabilitation covers the basics. Our pages on post-surgery rehabilitation in Kalyani Nagar and stroke rehabilitation in Kalyani Nagar describe the stages and the role of the family.

Neighbouring Wadgaon Sheri covers the societies towards the river. We also visit Viman Nagar, Kharadi and Kalyani Nagar. Seek emergency care first for chest pain, sudden one-sided weakness, slurred speech, a fall with suspected fracture or new loss of bladder control.
