The road outside: DP road, mud and the flyover
Manik Baug DP Road figured in the news in July 2026, when reports named the stretch between it and Hingne Chowk as one of the worst hit by rain, mud from construction vehicles and potholes, with vehicles skidding. Anyone who lives here knows how wet weather changes the journey. We give you a time window, and if the road is bad we tell you early. We would ask you for the nearest recognisable point, such as the DP road junction or the lane's name, and for a phone number to call at the last turning.
The Sinhagad Road flyover, which opened in 2025, has taken some through traffic off the ground-level road, but officials reported continued jams caused by parking, encroachments and speed breakers, and in August 2026 the Mayor ordered a police survey of the corridor. For a person with a painful back, any ride along that road is a bigger burden than it sounds.
What is coming: the metro plan
Manik Baug is named as a station on the proposed metro corridor that runs from Khadakwasla towards Swargate and Hadapsar. In April 2026 the Maha Metro managing director said a spur line from Manik Baug to Swargate had been approved and was under survey. Nothing about the timeline is settled, and construction on any such line would bring its own barricades and diversions. If it proceeds, it is worth planning visit times with that in mind.
