Home Physiotherapy in Khadakwasla, Pune

Physiotherapist home visits around Khadakwasla dam at the far end of Sinhagad Road, for knee, back, stroke and post-surgery care at home.

Khadakwasla is known to most Pune residents as the dam on the Mutha river, and to many as the place to go on a weekend for a drive and a plate of snacks. For the people who live here, it is also a home address at the far end of Sinhagad Road, with the National Defence Academy as its neighbour. Proper Care Physiotherapy sends a physiotherapist to homes around Khadakwasla, so that treatment does not depend on a journey along one of the busiest leisure roads in Pune.

This page is about home physiotherapy in Khadakwasla: how the road shapes the schedule, what kinds of problems families call about, and what to tell us so that a visit goes smoothly.

The far end of the Sinhagad Road corridor

Sinhagad Road, which starts at Sarasbaug, passes Dhayari, Nanded, Kirkatwadi and Kolhewadi before it reaches Khadakwasla, and carries on to Gorhe Budruk and Donje. It is the road to the dam, to Sinhagad fort and to Panshet. Because it is also the road home for residents, the weekend crowd is part of life here.

The effect is easy to see in the news. A weekend in May 2025 saw a jam of about 6.5 km between Donje and Khadakwasla, with the queue near the Chowpatty alone running to 2 km. In July 2026, 18,327 visitors went up to Sinhagad fort in a single weekend, and the ghat road jammed for around 3 km. Residents therefore plan errands, school runs and medical visits around the weekend. We do the same: weekday visits are easier to schedule, and we agree on a time window instead of an exact minute.

Dam, academy and surrounding homes

The area around the Khadakwasla dam has institutions that give it its character. The National Defence Academy, the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, the College of Military Engineering and the Central Water and Power Research Station are all described as lying near the dam. The Chowpatty snack stretch and the Peacock Bay area are the visitor attractions, though Peacock Bay is part of the NDA and out of bounds to the public.

That mix means patients here may include people connected with the institutions, residents of older houses, and families in newer apartments. We make no assumption about the type of home. Please tell us when you book:

  • the nearest landmark, such as the dam chowk or the Chowpatty stretch;
  • the floor, lift and entrance details;
  • a number for someone who can meet the physiotherapist on the road;
  • any rules for entry, since access near defence establishments can be controlled.

The last point is important. If your home is inside or beside a controlled area, entry may need an advance request or a pass, and the physiotherapist cannot be asked to arrange it. Please sort that out before the visit, or give us the instructions to follow.

Walking in a scenic place

The lake and hills make Khadakwasla pleasant for walks, but the road itself is busy and the dam wall and lakeside have their own hazards. For a patient who is recovering, the physiotherapist will usually begin with indoor walking and short outdoor stretches near the house on flat ground, and will not suggest the dam area for exercise until balance, endurance and confidence are adequate and someone can walk alongside. After the first weeks, the plan may include a measured route near home. We will not name a route we have not checked with you.

What families here usually need

  • Older residents with knee or hip pain. The distance to a clinic is long, and the road is slow at peak times; see knee pain physiotherapy and the hip pain physiotherapy guide.
  • Recovery after surgery. Getting home from a city hospital is a long trip, and the early days are when exercise guidance matters most. See post-surgery rehabilitation.
  • Stroke and mobility problems. Practising at home avoids repeated journeys; see stroke rehabilitation.
  • Back pain in people who commute. A long ride towards the city and back takes a toll; read about back pain physiotherapy for this corridor.

Metro and the road ahead

A Khadakwasla–Hadapsar–Kharadi metro line is being planned along Sinhagad Road. A report dated 26 August 2026 says survey and alignment work is under way, Kolhewadi is proposed as the starting station, and residents have asked for the main station and car shed to be placed beyond the gas shed at Khadakwasla. Construction timing is not fixed, so we do not assume a date. If the work starts, expect slower and more variable travel on the road, which is another reason for time windows.

Nearby places we visit

Coming back towards the city, Kirkatwadi and Nanded Gaon have their own pages, as does the Nanded City township, which is our hub for this part of Sinhagad Road.

Your first visit

We start by listening: what happened, when it started, what has been tried, and what you want to be able to do again. The physiotherapist then examines movement, strength, balance and sensation, watches how you move around your home, and begins treatment if it is safe. You leave with a few exercises and advice on what to avoid for now. We do not promise a recovery time or a fixed number of sessions.

When to go to hospital

Call an ambulance or go to an emergency department for sudden weakness, facial droop, slurred speech, chest pain, severe breathlessness, a head injury after a fall, or a limb that looks deformed. Back pain with loss of control of the bladder or bowels is also an emergency. The distance from the city is a reason to act early rather than wait.

Booking

Request a visit on the booking page, and give the landmark, floor, condition and any entry arrangements. Session charges are on the pricing page.

Common Questions

Home physiotherapy in Khadakwasla: questions families ask

Do you visit homes close to the dam?
Yes, homes around Khadakwasla are part of our visiting area. Give us the dam chowk or another landmark and the floor, and we will agree a time window. Weekdays are easier than weekends.
What if my home is within a controlled area near a defence establishment?
Entry rules there are set by the authorities and may need an advance request or a pass. Please arrange that before the visit or give us the instructions, since the physiotherapist cannot arrange entry on the day.
Can my father walk near the dam or lakeside as part of recovery?
Only when the physiotherapist says so. Early walking is indoors and on flat ground near the house. The lakeside and the road are busy and uneven in places, so a walk there needs steady balance and someone alongside.
Is a metro line coming to Khadakwasla, and will it affect your visits?
A Khadakwasla–Hadapsar–Kharadi metro line is being planned, with survey and alignment work reported in August 2026. Construction timing is not fixed. If work begins on Sinhagad Road, travel may become slower, which is why we use time windows.
